I THOUGHT THOSE DAYS WERE LONG GONE

It's kind of funny... just the other day I was thinking how it had been such a long time (4 years) since my days of countless times being pulled over. I would estimate that I have recieved tickets 50% of the time... pretty good right?!

This evening I was pulled over by a lovely ASU police officer for not making a COMPLETE stop at an itsy bity tiny little intersection in the ASU East housing neighborhood. The kind gentlemen, who took his job WAYY too seriously, immediately turned on his colorful lights & bright spotlight. I pulled over & was greeted with a flash light in my eyes. He asked for my license, registration, & proof of insurance.

After searching through my glove compartment & purse... I kindly handed him an old license, expired proof of insurance, & my registration. He returned to his flashing vehicle.

As I was sitting there for what seemed like an hour another police car pulls up. Now I get to wondering if maybe they found those warrants for my arrest from my days of bank robbing! I decide to turn some music on & text a few people while I wait.

Anyway, finally Mr. Police Officer comes back and has a lengthy ticket written for me including 3 citations. Are you ready!?!
1) License not in possession (I gave him an old one)
2) No proof of insurance ( I gave him an expired one)
3) No registration card in vehicle ( I gave him the WRONG vehicles (the jetta's) registration! oops!)

I told him I'm sure I have the minis registration & he said it was too late, I had my opportunity to give him the correct one. He assumed my car was stolen & had to call it in and verify. I guess that's why he called for back up! Don't you think it would have been easier to just ask me? I guess I look like the car stealing type! Oh well!

The "kind" officer told me all of these violations can be fixed by taking all of those documents to the court. So basically he didn't cite me for the stop sign and gave me a bunch of busy work. THANK A LOT! Needless to say, Cops bother me. Too bad my husband is in the process of becoming one! hehe lol.

Friends...

I was going through a closet trying to figure out space for our camping stuff...yes I am just now finishing unpacking! And I found a box that said "CAUTION DO NOT OPEN." That could only mean one thing! Old pictures & notes from High School!! I sat there forever reading notes and remembering fun times. I still keep in touch with my good friends from school, so I decided to post some of the best memories I have over the years...

Dances were always fun, especially when we went with each other in a group! I have protected the identity of the the poor boys from that dance that went with Elizabeth, Melanie, & I. James is cool since he married his date...that date must have went well ;0)Our first trip on our own... unfortunately it was to EFY. (We are in the bottom row... please forgive us for the Charlies Angel pose!) Between leaving campus for a burger (big no no) to a blown out tire & locking the keys in the car at the mall, we managed to survive.

Classes together... Poor Mr.Feldmiller! He was so nice, but always fell for our jokes. He changed schools after our class ended, we have theories. Melanie's infamous "dirty looks." You never knew when you were going to get one, but they were always well deserved.
Wherever we were going, there was karaoke in the car!
The occasional lapse in good decision making. We were always there to help each other, and now we look back and laugh about it.

Now that we are all grown up, changed, & live in different cities... it's nice to stay in touch and remember the crazy fun times we had!

We got back from our camping trip! We were able to spend a lot of time with our nieces, Madison & Olivia. They are growing up so fast!

& we're going camping! We are heading up north tomorrow for some fun OUT of the heat. We are going with the Vowles side of the family to celebrate my niece's (Madison) birthday. Tyler recently hurt his back, so it will be nice for him to sit around a fire & just relax. Which means I get to collect the wood & pitch the tent. I can picture him sitting by the campfire laughing at me as I attempt to build our shelter and start the fire. Oh well... it should be a fun trip.

Shannon made a craft? Say What?!

Yes, yes it's true! I am posting two days in a row! I don't know what has come over me. I've been wanting to post about the craft I made earlier this year. Did you notice the "the" in the prior sentence?! That's because I think it is THE only craft I have ever made, except of course maybe a Popsicle stick house in preschool.

Its a magnetic calendar!! I went to Lowes & bought a metal piece & Tyler's Dad cut it down to the perfect size so I could frame it (Thanks Scott!) . Then I took a nail and hammer & hammered holes to outline the month & days. Then I painted it & created the dates by painting wood pieces & stamping the numbers. I went to a scrapbook store & bought metal charms for holidays & glued them onto magnets. It was quite time consuming & I ended up with sore fingers from all that hammering (OUCH!) but it was fun to make something.

So... few days ago I was in Poppy's, a home decor store in Mesa, and saw these metal pieces painted with ribbon to hang them. You can use them as a magnet board for pictures, cards, invites, or whatever. I was so excited because the colors matched my calendar so perfectly. I was excited until I saw the price! The Martha Steweart began to emerge from me once again, so I went straight over to Lowes to buy a metal piece & get started on my 2nd craft ever. P.S Thank you obnoxious little boy in line who pointed out that my fly was down!

You can use any size metal, any color paint, & all different kinds of ribbon to make it your own & it will be SOOO much cheaper than buying it at Poppy's!

Another Year Older

Yesterday was Tyler's 26th Birthday! We celebrated by going to the grocery store, watching Big Brother, & going to Joes BBQ. Okay... I know that sounds boring, but earlier in the week we went & saw the new Batman movie & went to Rustlers Rooste with family. So he just wanted to kick back & relax after work on his big day.

Sorry!

Sorry I have been such a slacker with posts! Nothing exciting has been going on with us. Tyler & I are just keeping really busy with work. This last month I've started running every other day, which Julia Roberts' phrase in Pretty Women sums it up pretty well... "Big Mistake. Huge!" I've always thought that you should only run if your being chased by a crazy person, but I decided to give it a try. It is TOTALLY the wrong time of year to start & it has reminded me how out of shape I am. But I won't give up =0)

I was going through my email today from FOREVER ago trying to find something, & I found THIS! Anyway, I love this & I have definitely used all of them!

9 Words Women Use

1. FINE: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with Nothing usually end in Fine.

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A Loud Sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about Nothing (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of Nothing.)

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's Okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you; do not question or faint. Just say "you're welcome." (Note: this is true unless she says "Thanks A Lot"-that is PURE sarcasm ans she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "you're welcome"...that will bring on a Whatever.)

8. Whatever: This is a woman's way of saying DROP DEAD!

9. Don't Worry About It, I Got It: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing herself. This will later result in the man asking "what's wrong?" For the woman's response, refer to #3.

1. When I was about 6 years old I was on a bike ride with my family. I was soooo tired, so I closed my eyes while I peddled. As I was taking my quick nap while biking (smart huh?) I drifted diagonally across the street & hit the sidewalk curb which launched me over the handlebars & I landed on my chin. I ended up with some stitches and a nice scar.

2. I was in a bowling league as a kid & won 2nd place in the team, individual, & duo competitions in the State Youth Championship. Don’t worry, I’ve lost all my skill and require bumpers now….seriously.

3. I’ve had 4 real jobs in my life. The first one was as a sales associate at Mikasa. Then I was a professional lotion smeller at Bath & Body Works, then back to Mikasa as the sales supervisor, & now I’m a Realtor.

4. I have gone to three colleges: MCC, ASU, & BYU-I.

5. I met my husband Tyler when I was 17 years old. We have been “together” for seven years, & married for 3 ½.

6. I have 5 email addresses… weird I know… One for personal, two for work, one for signing up for things so I don’t get junk mail in the others, & one to send/receive big files so I don’t clog up my other accounts. I am very particular about my email. I hate junk mail!

7. I am a big worrier. I already have some grey hair! I could write a long list of all my weird phobias and things I worry about, but I won't bore you!

Reminisce N’ Sunday!

Hi! Hope everyone had a fantastic week! Nothing exciting happened this week for us. All this talk of graduations in the air got me thinking about this time 6 years ago when Tyler & I went to Prom, he left on his mission, & I graduated from High School. I can't believe it has been six years already, but at the same time it seems FOREVER ago. A lot has changed since then! Here is a dorky picture of us sure to give you a laugh....

BUSY BUSY!

This last week was quite busy, but in a wonderful way! Tyler's Dad, Mom, & my Mom all had birthdays this week & yesterday was Mothers Day. We had a great time spending most of our free time this week with family. On Thursday we did some intense high speed go-cart racing at Speedway in Phoenix with Tyler's Mom. I don't think I could ever do Golfland go-carts again after experiencing this! You have to have skill.... which I don't have! But it was a blast.

We also went out to dinner & miniature golfing (again, something I have no skill at) with our friends Derek & Melanie to celebrate Derek graduating from ASU. YEAH!
